Excitement fills the air as we eagerly await the outcome of the Agewell Awards, where our very own team at Burleigh Hill House and Eden Primary School stand as finalists for the Intergenerational Partnership Award.

Hosted by the Mid & East Antrim Agewell Partnership, these awards celebrate initiatives that foster connections across generations, and we couldn’t be prouder of our team at Burleigh Hill Houses participation in this project.

At the heart of our partnership lies the Kindness Postbox project, a heartwarming collaboration facilitated by Wenda Gray, Volunteering Support Officer and MEA Loneliness Champion, along with the dedicated team at Volunteer Now & Volunteer Now Enterprises. This initiative has brought together residents from Burleigh Hill House and students from Eden Primary School in a beautiful exchange of handmade cards, photos, artwork, and even fresh flowers.

The bond forged through the Kindness Postbox is truly special. Our residents eagerly anticipate each delivery from the pupils at Eden Primary School, cherishing the thoughtful gestures and tokens of affection sent their way. From handmade bookmarks to personalized messages, each item carries with it the warmth and kindness of the young hearts behind them.

Witnessing the joy on the faces of our residents as they receive these heartfelt gifts is a testament to the power of intergenerational connections. Through simple acts of kindness, barriers dissolve, and bonds are formed, enriching the lives of all involved.

The journey of the Kindness Postbox has been one of growth and flourishing camaraderie, and we are excited to see it continue to blossom in the months to come. It’s a reminder of the beauty that lies in reaching across generations, bridging gaps, and finding common ground through shared experiences.

As we eagerly await the awards ceremony on Friday, March 1st, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Burleigh Hill House and Eden Primary School for their wholehearted participation in this meaningful project. Their dedication has not only brought joy to our residents but has also inspired others to join in spreading kindness and building connections.

In the spirit of celebration and anticipation, we extend our best wishes to all finalists at the Agewell Awards. May our shared commitment to fostering connections across generations continue to inspire and uplift us all.

Congratulations to Burleigh Hill House and Eden Primary School, and here’s to the power of kindness and connection in making our world a brighter place.
